Joint transmitter receiver diversity for efficient space division multiaccess
نویسندگان
چکیده
Beamforming problem is studied in wireless networks where both transmitters and receivers have linear adaptive antenna arrays. Algorithms are proposed that find antenna array weight vectors at both transmitters and receivers as well as the transmitter powers with one of the following two objectives: 1) to maximize the minimum signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) over all receivers and 2) to minimize the sum of the total transmitted power satisfying the SINR requirements at all links. Numerical study is performed to compare the network capacity and the power consumption among systems having different number of antenna array elements in a code division multiple access network.

Joint Transmitter and Receiver Beamforming for Maximum Capacity in Spatial Division Multiaccess
Antenna array beamforming and power control have been studied separately to increase the capacity in wireless communication networks. Recently, the two were considered jointly in a system with power control capabilities which uses antenna array at the receiver only or the transmitter only. In this paper we formulate and study the joint beamforming and power control problem in a system with ante...
متن کاملDesign, performance and wavelength assignment of a wavelength division multiaccess protocol for optical fibre ring networks
This paper presents a multiaccess strategy for use over optical fibre ring networks employing two counter rotating rings, and using wavelength division multiplexing. Transmitters employ tunable lasers, while receivers employ one or more fixed wavelength filters. The paper introduces an algorithm for the optimal assignment of the receivers to the channels, such that the possibility of finding an...
متن کاملSpectral efficiency of MIMO multiaccess systems with single-user decoding
The use of multiple antennas at the transmitter and the receiver is considered for the uplink of cellular communication systems. The achievable spectral efficiency in bits/s/Hz is used as the criterion for comparing various design choices. The focus is on wideband code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems when the receiver uses the matched-filter or the minimum mean-squared error detector, f...

1 This research is funded by NSF grants CCR-9725271 and CCR-0081706 Abstract– Transmitter diversity in the downlink for Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems provides a means to achieve similar performance gains as for the mobile-station receiver diversity without the complexity of a mobile-station receiver antenna array. Pre-RAKE precoding at the transmitter can be employed to achieve t...
متن کاملEnergy-efficient Packet Transmission over a Multiaccess Channel
We investigate the minimum-energy packet scheduling problem for the multiaccess channel with K transmitters and a single receiver, assuming that packets arrive at each transmitter’s buffer at arbitrary times and must be transmitted within a finite time window. The offline scheduling problem is formulated and found to be a convex optimization problem with linear constraints. An efficient algorit...
